Hello Taylor Family,
We are very excited to announce that after some significant COVID-19 delays, our location has been finalized and confirmed! We are pleased to announce that we will be traveling and staying at Fontana Village just off of Lake Fontana for the 2021 Reunion! This was our first choice, and we are happy to be able to go there next year, after the pandemic threw a serious wrench into our early plans. We think it is a fantastic value, with options at various price points. It is also fairly secluded and private, which we think is especially safe during the pandemic, and will give us lots of time to bond as a family. The facility is loaded with lots of amenities for all ages right on site. You can learn more about Fontana Village in these two links.

As we mentioned, safety was and is a major consideration for us. We are hopeful that our nation will have this pandemic licked by the time of the reunion. We recognize that families will have to make health and safety decisions based on what they think is right for them. We encourage each family to start now planning and saving as though we were in full recovery by next summer. If not, there is plenty of time to cancel plans, and get refunds, if it becomes necessary. It would be much harder to book lodging and find funds at the last minute, and we really want to see you all, if at all possible.
The cost was a major consideration for us as well, and we know that some families have faced furloughs or reduced hours this year. Fontana Village offers two different types of amenities in the Lodge and in their onsite cabins. The lodge is a traditional hotel-style lodging with two queen beds while the cabins offer 2 and 3 bedrooms with full kitchens. Our group rates are attached below. The second rate is for if you choose to stay Saturday night as well. Each family is responsible for making their own reservations, and our block is only reserved until April 1st, 2021. (Use our group name TFR 2021 when making your reservation, and the first night’s cost is due when booking). After this date, space is not guaranteed. The cost for the activities at the homestead are still being determined and are forthcoming.
IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT RESERVING YOUR SPOT WITH FAMILY AT THE HOMESTEAD: We ask that if you wish to reserve a spot for you and your family with a specific family near the homestead, that you make your reservation with them before Jan. 31, 2021, and let Frances know at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. After February 1st, 2021 we ask that you request any lodging with family at the homestead through Frances. We are hoping to streamline the process, both for those locally and those traveling from out of town.
We are not going to mislead you. Our coffers for the family reunion are running dry, and the booking delays caused by the pandemic have put the committee in a bit of a bind to make the financial commitments we need to for the event to go off without a hitch. As such, we are asking each family to submit a $50 deposit as soon as you can to Trey Starnes at PO Box 147, Icard, NC 28666, or by using the family PayPal link here. This will help us immensely in reserving facilities. The deposit will be applied to your balance for the catered meals and other homeplace costs.
We have included the tentative calendar of events for TFR 2021 below and we have also done a great deal of research regarding excursions. One set from the Homestead, one set from Fontana Village, and one set of “in-between” excursions, which can be done on the travel day. We cannot do all of the excursions described here, so it is important that you VOTE to let us know which things members of your family would like to participate in. We will coordinate plans for the top voted from each category. Please send all of your responses to Derrick at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. You can vote once for each member of your household for each of the 3 days.
Finally, we need your help to get the word out to the WHOLE family. Sadly, we are short far too many email addresses. Please check with members of your family to make sure they receive this email. Forward it on, print it out, and pass it along, any way to get the word out. If you have any responses or questions you can email them to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and we will answer them as quickly as possible. This information and more is also available on the family website at taylorkin.com.
We are SO looking forward to seeing you all in 2021. Until then, may God bless you and keep you safe.
Regards, Your 2021 TFR Committee
